This paper addresses the flat sea fading effect for maritime communications by proposing different frequency bands. The reception of the wireless signal above water compounds of the reflected signal components from the sea surface and the signal of the line-of-sight (LoS) transmission. The phase difference between both similar propagation paths results in a constructive or destructive signal summation at the receiver. The outcome results at larger distances in extensive areas where the flat fading channel dominates with a reduced path loss if correctly adapted.
