Abstract

Experiments performed at ONERA and DLR in the frame of a cooperation analyse the disintegration of a planar liquid sheet on a prefilmer plate at isothermal conditions. The behaviour of the spray atomisation studied at ONERA at standard conditions is compared to the measurements taken at DLR, which were performed under elevated static pressure at room temperature. There is a dramatic effect of air density on the atomisation. The droplet size only depends on the air flowcondition.
