Abstract
Within the framework of the German aerospace research programme, the CFD project MEGAFLOW was initiated. Its goal is the development and validation of a dependable and efficient numerical tool for the aerodynamic simulation of complete aircraft in cruise as well as in take-off and landing configurations. In order to meet the requirements for industrial implementation, a concentrated cooperative with the aircraft industry, DLR and several universities has been set up. The project started mid 1995 and finishes by the end of 1998. Besides a more general introduction to numerical flow simulation this paper gives an overview of the goals and major achievements of the project. This includes the items of collaboration and communication which will be the keys to efficiency and success in the future.
