Abstract
Besides more general considerations concerning numerical flow simulation for aircraft aerodynamic development this paper gives an overview of the goals and major achievements of the German MEGAFLOW project. This project which combines many of the national activities of CFD development from DLR, universities and aircraft industry in a concentrated cooperation has been initiated within the framework of the German aerospace research programme. Its goal is the development and validation of a dependable and efficient numerical tool for the aerodynamic simulation of complete aircraft in cruise as well as in take-off and landing configurations. MEGAFLOW started mid 1995 and finishes by the end of 1998.
