Abstract

We derive an analytic and explicit expression for the shape sensitivities of the natural frequencies of turbine blades with respect to the shape parameters. Furthermore, we examine the structural shape optimization problem of the minimization of the dynamic compliance of a turbine blade and derive its adjoint formulation. Finally, we discuss how the derived formulations for structural shape optimization could be applied in an MDO context.
