Abstract

In this paper we validate a geometry-based stochastic channel model of the air-ground channel for a regional airport environment. For this purpose we compare ranging results obtained from the channel model with ranging results gathered using flight trials. We show that the channel model is well able to reproduce the measured ranging errors, both in terms of the ranging error statistics as well as in terms of the effects of the channel’s non-stationarity on the ranging.
