Abstract

To test the capability of 3D audio, the author conducted a simulator study at the DLR. To tests the capability of a new 3D audio assistance. Sixteen helicopter pilots flew typical missions in challenging areas. This paper describes the system and results. The pilots had to hover an EC135-like helicopter in a narrowed space close to the ground including a landing in brownout conditions.
