Kurzfassung
The paper deals with the aerodynamic design of laminar flow wings. The main design concepts at present applied which are Natural Laminar Flow (NLF) based on favorable pressure gradients and Hybrid Laminar Flow (HLF) using in addition leading edge suction are presented and discussed. The essential role of a reliable transition prediction in the design process is pointed out. Specific design features of the suction system are also addressed. In addition, some aspects of the off-design problems are raised.
