Abstract

In June 2016 a ship monitoring campaign in the North Sea was conducted with DLR's multi-channel and multi-spectral airborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) sensor F-SAR. Fully polarimetric X- and L-band data were acquired simultaneously during several linear and circular flight tracks. With circular flight tracks ships can be observed over the full aspect angle range of 360° with observation times of several minutes. In the paper first inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging results of moving ships are presented and the used ISAR processing chain is discussed.
