Abstract

This paper presents an extensive literature review in order to provide a description of the state-of-the-art of the research relating to three main questions: (1) the characterization of the OOTL phenomenon, (2) the current solutions proposed to compensate this phenomenon, and (3) the identification of its physiological markers. Based both on the presented literature review and on expert feedback (workshop, interviews), it further present the concept for vigilance and attention measurement and guidance in Air Traffic Control developed in the MINIMA project. Particularly, we will exploit the recent progress in non-intrusive physiological measures devices, such as eye-tracking or Electroencephalography, combined to gather a unique measure of the level of attention and vigilance of an air traffic controller. Then, we will present different ideas for vigilance and attention guidance. Finally, we will propose some ideas regarding automation adaptation.
