Abstract
The application of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data from multiple SAR-satellites assists national authorities in monitoring the sea surface under all weather and illumination conditions. The DLR Maritime Safety and Security Lab in Bremen continuously develops and improves information extraction techniques for SAR data capable of generating advanced information content in near real-time (NRT). Within the scope of maritime safety automatic derivation of sea state conditions or wind fields as well as detection of hazardous materials are of interest. Maritime security benefits from detection and classification of objects on the water surface. This talk presents recent progress of SAR value-adding with focus on the synergetic usage of multiple SAR sensors.
