This paper gives an overview of the MERWind project which has been started by DLR at the beginning of 2012. The program goals are described, followed by the general setup of the project and the tools that will be used. In order to account for the multidisciplinary nature of wind turbine rotors four different institutes contribute their tools and skills to the project assuring a high level of sophistication.
