Abstract

The ALVAST model represents a typical twinjet subsonic transport aircraft. It is with a full span of 3.4m the largest model of DLR and can be used as half or full model in cruise or high-lift configuration, respectively. The model can be equipped with turbine-driven engine simulators as conventional turbofan or modern VHBR/UHBR type. The main dimensions as well as checks of geometry and strength are described. The ALVAST model and seven engine simulators were or will be used in the European research programmes DUPRIN I and II and ENIFAIR. The model already had 11 wind tunnel entries from 1987 till now and 5 more entries are fixed until 1998.
