Kurzfassung
State of the Art vehicle body structures show a separation between the primary body structure and externally installed functions, such as media-carrying lines or thermal insulation. Through integration of additional functions into load bearing structures, secondary weight-saving potentials can be made accessible by eliminating no longer required components. Due to their specific design and manufacturing processes, FRP materials offer excellent opportunities for the integration of a variety of additional functions into the structural components. An integrated approach of methods, materials and design is the key for developing concepts for holistic lightweight solutions. The research campus ARENA2036 with partners from industry and research in Baden-Württemberg provides a suitable framework for the implementation of these methods into a functionally integrated automotive floor module using fiber composite materials. The concept phase focuses strongly on mechanical and functional demands. An early implementation of optimization methods provides an assessment basis for the development of multi-functional body structures.
