Abstract
A life cycle assessment of the entire life cycle of a FC drivetrain has been conducted. The analysis covers the extraction of raw materials, drivetrain production, fuel supply and the recycling phase. Different scenarios for current and future FCs are formulated and implemented to determine their impact on the results. An integrated analysis of the FC technology potentials requires the evaluation of economic aspects in addition to the environmental assessment. Thus, a complementary bottom-up cost model of the FC stack production has been developed for current and future FC technologies based on a detailed analysis of innovative production processes.
