Abstract
Innovation plays an important role in space. Consequently, constant and ongoing appraisal of innovation and break-through trends is necessary to remain competitive in research and development, as well as from an economic perspective. In industry currently existing methods for the evaluation of innovations are investigated in this work in terms of transferability for complex space transportation projects. Their advantages, disadvantages and significance are highlighted. Finally, the innovation of the ‘SpaceLiner’ is applied and evaluated by these methods.
