Abstract

A landing gear conceptual configuration for a large Blended Wing Body (BWB) Aircraft is proposed. The investigations are based on an integrated Multidisciplinary Optimization process for the design. Multi-Body Simulation is used to determine the dynamic ground loads of the BWB. Focus is on the assessment of the effect of ground loads on the aircraft structure and on the landing gear weight. Finally, an optimized landing gear layout (number and position of landing gears) is proposed for the BWB.
