Abstract

The occurrence of disaster all over the world triggers the awareness of many institutions all over the world to generate and use spatial information in order to strengthen the capabilities to cope with disaster and to minimize human casualties. Time constraint, reliability and data bureaucracy are always problematic moreover in the emergency situation. The massive development of remote sensing technologies enhances both spatial and spectral resolution to develop the spatial data infrastructure in the relatively restricted access. In the meantime, the worldwide development of open source GIS and geodatabase initiates open access geoinformation nowadays as an instant solution for delivering the spatial data to the public. Bridging the distance from those two sides of spatial data development has the potential to provide powerful tools in disaster management where the quick response and high accuracy can be integrated. This research aims to evaluate and to develop prototypical solution to integrate them into existing spatial data infrastructure.
