Kurzfassung
These are the slides of the two lectures accompanying the lecture notes with the same title of the VKI lecture series 2014-3. Lecture 1 (talk1) introduces the consistency and adjoint consistency analysis of the DG discretizations of the linear advection equation and the Poisson's equation. Lecture 2 (talk2) extends the consistency and adjoint consistency analysis to the compressible Euler and the compressible Navier-Stokes equations. Furthermore, the lecture 2 demonstrates the performance of adjoint-based mesh refinement in comparison to that of residual-based mesh refinement for a variety of aerodynamic test cases of increasing complexity.
