Abstract

The flow around a 2D laminar airfoil is investigated using wind tunnel experiments as well as computational fluid dynamics, employing both sub- and supercritical freestream conditions. In the transonic cases, an interaction of the compression shock and the boundary layer on the upper airfoil surface takes place, leading to transition and, for high angles of attack, shock-induced separation.
