Abstract
In the frame of a state-funded research project, DAIS 7915 data from the lignite mines Espenhain and Zwenkau in the Central German Lignite Mining District has been acquired and evaluated to support recultivation activities. Besides some results of the thematic evaluation the major processing steps for imaging spectrometer data are discussed in this paper. The need for precise preprocessing and calibration including atmospheric correction and geometric correction is made clear. Furthermore, it is shown that at the current status of the evaluation techniques accompanying ground spectral measurements and the modelling of the expected sensor response is necessary for any quantitative approach.
