Kurzfassung
To evaluate the crashworthiness of a transport aircraft, a parameterized process chain written in Python programming language has been developed at the Institute of Structures and Design in Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR). Its advantages are quick model generation and easy manipulation of aircraft geometry. Compared to the detailed modelling of the fuselage, the seat and passenger modelling is relatively coarse. A passenger is represented by two mass points bound to the seat. The process chain was updated to integrate more refined crash dummies, seat belts and solid seats in the process chain. The results show the dummy modelling has observable effects on the fuselage structure due to better mass distribution compared to the current modelling, albeit the computation time of a dummy modelling is up to about 3.5 times longer than the current simplified model.
