Abstract

In this study, an interpolation program is developed based on B-spline curves and surfaces. The work is divided into four chapters. In the first chapter, the content of the study and the methodology is explained. The second chapter derives the theoretical basis of B-splines and implemented it in a Python / Matlab program. By using various examples, the characteristics and the advantages of B-splines can be shown in a curve interpolation. Then, the surface interpolation is performed as an extension. In order to verify the programs, surface interpolation by some given surface points and surfaces with correct function description are compared. The total error is calculated with different polynomial degrees and setp sizes. The results are analyzed. Chapter three describes a wind blade as a complex example for interpolation with B-splines surfaces by different polynomial degrees and step sizes of the interpolation. In chapter four, the results of the study are summarized.
