Abstract

For an investigation of the source mechanisms of flap side-edge noise, which is one of the most prominent aero-acoustical phenomena for multi-element wings in high-lift-configuration, a combined and synchronized high-speed tomographic Particle Image Velocimetry (HS-Tomo PIV) and acoustic array measurement campaign at the innovative high-lift-configuration wing model of the citizen friendly aircraft or “Bürgernahes Flugzeug” (BNF) in the newly refurbished DNW-NWB anechoic low-speed wind tunnel facility in Braunschweig, Germany has been performed. Results of the HS- Tomo PIV measurements at 6 kHz frame rate (3 kHz velocity vector volumes), the acoustic array technique using beam forming and a combined approach using the causality correlation technique will be presented.
