To reduce the noise below the approach glide path a 3.2° ILS glide slope has been implemented at the new Runway Northwest of the Frankfurt Airport. After a successful safety assessment using an A330 Full Flight Simulator, the lifted glide slope is in operation since October 2012. Pilot acceptance, safety, operational aspects and noise impact have been assessed by the German Aerospace Center. Safety and operational aspects are not affected, whereas noise on ground is reduced by about 1 dB.
