Abstract

Highlights • Statistics of data quality parameters are used for KLDN performance evaluation. • Spatiotemporal distributions of lightning parameters are investigated for the evaluation of data quality. • Simulation of data uncertainty due to network geometry and topography is not significant compared with observation data. • The NFDF (Normalized Frequency Distribution Function) method is proposed to evaluate lightning detection performance
