Abstract

The paper describes the necessity to compress data in dependence of user requirements. 4 classes of data products are defined. The requirements of class A products are fulfilled by high performance compression algorithms. Two approaches are presented: SWAP and WAPOR. SWAP uses data in polar format whereas WAPOR uses real formatted data. Compression is performed in wavelet domain.
