Abstract

The present report describes the work performed within the scope of work package 4007b of the FESTIP system study. All results given in this report are valid for the FESTIP FSSC-16fr configuration. Most input data concerning propulsion, aerodynamics, geometry and masses have been provided by the system concepts team (SCT) at DASA. In the first part the re-calculation of the ascent and descent trajectories, the rocket and air breathing propulsion performance data, and the booster and orbiter mass estimations are performed. In a second step the system's growth factors are calculated, under different assumptions for the booster dry mass ratio. Vehicle sensitivities concerning the payload are regarded for the ascent for different engine performances, different dry mass, and different target orbit altitude. Reentry sensitivities of maximum heat flux and integral heat load for a variation in vehicle mass und reentry angle are presented. In a final investigation the influence of pre-separation throttling on payload is regarded. All relevant analyses data are listed.
