Abstract

This article addresses one level of integration out of five of the SANDRA project. This project, funded by the European Commission, aims to design, specify and develop an integrated aircraft communications system to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness by ensuring a high degree of flexibility, scalability, modularity, and reconfigurability. For these goals a new and future-oriented concept for the required seamless networking has to be developed. With IPv6 as unification point, the specification of a service oriented architecture and networking solutions allows the integration and interoperability at different levels. The main approach and outline of this major pillar of the SANDRA concept will be described.
