Abstract

The MESSENGER spacecraft is determining Mercury’s global shape and topography by means of several complementary techniques, including laser altimetry, measurements of radio occultation timing, stereo image analysis, and limb imaging. We have analyzed Mercury’s topography by using limb imagery obtained by MESSENGER’s Mercury Dual Imaging System (MDIS) consisting of a wide-angle camera (WAC) and a narrow-angle camera (NAC) co-aligned on a pivot platform.
