Abstract

This research report contains in an integrated approach the contents of the TAMS validation concept document and validation report and is additionally enriched with information about the intermediate steps and preliminary goals pursued for validation of the TAMS at the beginning of the validation concept work. This document subsumes the TAMS validation activities regarding the overall TAMS conceptual elements of integration of air- and landside processes and the consideration of tactical and pre-tactical planning phases. Within the scope of TAMS, several industrial partners are involved in the implementation of the TAMS operational conceptual elements. These companies have differing interests in TAMS and their related products and, thus, different information and validation needs. However, small-scale validation activities regarding single or only some tools pursued by some partners, and therefore not the whole TAMS-concept, are not within the scope of this document. The validation report part proves that with TAMS benefits for holistic airport operations management can be achieved: More passengers were transported due to the 6.6% fewer passengers left behind while suffering less delay in queues and on the departure side of aircraft operations ( 22.2% delay and +11.84% punctuality). It was possible to have these benefits while maintaining the same level of resource costs within the terminal and even reducing the costs for airlines due to the reduction of fuel usage (12.12% less engine running time). The experimental analysis shows that expectations of the TAMS solution’s behavior are met, providing a positive impact on costs, the environment and operations in general.
