Abstract

The movement of the thin oil film placed on the surface of fast-rotating disks or propeller blades is analyzed in the present work with the aim to find a solution useful for skin-friction measurements. A new measurement technique is proposed, the Rotational-flow Global Interferometry Skin Friction (RotGISF) method, which uses the relationship between the oil-film deflection angles and the centrifugal forces for direct skin-friction calculations. Feasibility experiments using proposed skin-friction method deliver plausible results.
