Abstract
Efficient management of mass casualty incidents is complex, since regular emergency medical services structures have to be switched to a temporary “disaster mode” involving additional operational and tactical structures. Electronic systems for patient data gathering and ressource allocation/management are known from enterprise logistics, but these systems cannot be mapped directly onto an unplannable provisional and chaotic environment. Apart from data gathering digital wireless communication infrastructure is a key factor deciding on success or failure of patient logistics.
