Abstract

This technical report presents an extended version of the results gathered in the framework of the MDO report on liquid and solid propulsion systems. It is based on an analysis of almost 70 existing engines and motors focussing efficiency and thrust to mass ratio. The goal was to provide formulas and/or hints to assess future engine main characteristics (efficiency, thrust to weight ratio). An itemization of engines according to propellants, cycle type, and stage type has been realised to provide traceable results of high accuracy. The first and main part deals with liquid rocket engines. The second and shorter one deals with solid rocket motors.
