Abstract

“Development and verification of a single-side-accessible repair method for structures made of carbon fibre reinforced plastics in aeronautical applications based on the principle of double scarf using injection technologies” Due to the increasing use of carbon fibre reinforced plastics (CFRP) in aeronautical applications, the amount of damaged structures rises adequately. To achieve short-term idle times it is necessary to develop appropriate procedures for the repair of CFRP components. The present thesis deals with the development and verification of such a repair procedure. Today the majority of repairs are done by wet lamination. In contrast, the introduced repair method is accomplished with hardened patches that are conglutinated to the damaged parts of the structure. Within the scope of this thesis the repair method is verified using a sample program. Moreover the applicability on curved surfaces is to be verified. A second sample program was defined throughout the thesis to gain knowledge on the impact of various surface treatments in combination with different adhesives.
