Abstract

The design of coaxial-fed microstrip antennas in Ka-band is reported. The antenna elements are designed for use in terminal antennas, where a thick groundplane serves as heat sink. The circular polarization of these terminal antennas is obtained with the use of sequential rotation. The main aim of the work was to reduce the sensitivity of the feed-point location of the probe in the microstrip radiating element. Different types of slot structures in the patch element are used to reduce the sensitivity. Results are presented for linear and circular polarized single elements.
