Wall pressure measurements and schlieren images gained from cold flow test with a generic planar expansion-deflection nozzle at various nozzle pressure ratios are compared to numerical simulations with the DLR TAU code. The nozzle geometry is simulated on 2d and 3d meshes. The focus is on simulations on 3d meshes, to capture the flow effects during the experiments. Several meshes and three turbulence models are computed for different NPR and the wall pressure distribution in the wake region is taken for the comparison. For two selected grids an incremental increase and decrease of the pressure ratio range from 10 to 25 is simulated. Thus, the transition behavior and a hysteresis are studied numerically.
