Abstract

Ground-based radiometric measurements of rain polarization characteristics were carried out. The measured data for the first three Stokes parameters and the orientation angle of the polarization ellipsis of the downward atmospheric radiation are compared with theoretical results. The theory is shown to agree well with the experiment. The parameters of the microwave radiometer used in the experiment and the features of the ground-based measurement technique are described.
