Abstract

In this paper, a noise and vibration reduction system is presented, where piezoceramic patch ac-tuators are applied on a standard circular saw blade. Each of these actuators is connected to an individual semi-active negative capacitance shunt network, which allows to damp vibration ampli-tude in a large frequency range with an attenuation of up to 20dB. For testing this concept, a com-mercial sawing tool head was modified to carry all electronics in the rotating system, including en-ergy supply via a generator to avoid abrasive rotating contacts, e.g. sliprings. A laser-vibrometer based measurement system was designed to obtain the vibration amplitude on one point of the saw blade while rotating. This system is used to calibrate a miniature acceleration sensor under centrifugal load on the surface of the saw blade
