Abstract
The goal of this document is to outline the investigation process and the preliminary results of the raw image generation procedure with the use of the following sensors • Millimetre-wave (MMW) radiometer sub-system • MMW radar sub-system • Visible/ Infra-Red (IR) camera sub-system. in order to fulfil the related requirements expressed in the Scenario and Operational Requirements Document and in the Technical Requirements Document. Furthermore it should be described how measurement data are recorded and pre-processed. The members of SUM consortium agreed on the use of common civil data formats for data exchange purposes like e.g. Extensible Markup Language (XML), as well as on the use of a common civil bus standard like e.g. Ethernet as data and communication link. The use of military standards or formats was renounced with respect to the ambition of the SUM consortium to manufacture a functional system and to postpone the technical maturation to a future project.
