Abstract
The presentation will highlight the national German earth observation missions in orbit as well as planned also in the context to European (GMES) and international (GEO/GEOSS) programmes. It will show latest results of the TerraSAR-X mission and expectations in the TanDEM-X mission to be launched in 2010. Besides the working RapidEye constellation, DLR will embark in the future also to optical missions, including hyperspectral imaging (EnMAP). Earth observation applications the European context mostly refer to the Global Monitoring of Environment and Security (GMES) programme, where DLR is involved in major roles in disaster and atmosphere monitoring amongst others. The presentation will conclude with aspects on new data transmission technologies and new polar data acquisition stations for earth observation missions, thus enabling them global and very rapid access to the data.
