FASTWing CL Parachute Verification Test Data Analysis Report

Abstract

The purpose of this document is the description of the preparation, execution and results of the parachute verification tests (PVT) during the 1st drop test campaign in FASTWing CL. These tests were conducted using dummy loads in order to check the functionality of the parachutes and the applied deployment sequence prior to their application in the following steerable and autonomous flight tests in the 2nd and 3rd test campaigns. Two parachute verification tests were conducted 2008 in Germany with the support of the WTD 61 in Manching and the WTD 91 in Meppen. In autumn 2008 it was decided by the project coordination committee (PCC) to carry out the remaining tests in the USA. In Coolidge/AZ eight further parachute verification tests were conducted in October and November 2009 with the support of Big Sky Avation Intl. and Intl. Air Response (both subcontracted by the FASTWing CL consortium).
