Abstract

This paper presents and discusses the results of a deployment test series on deployable lightweight masts within a micro gravity environment. Therefore, it gives a brief introduction to the motivation and the state of the art of large deployable lightweight space structures. The basic concept of the tested deployable composite masts as well as the necessary deployment control principles and the test setup within the used test aircraft is introduced. Of course the results of exemplary experiments will be shown and interpreted. Finally, the combined result will be recapitulated and the resulting potential applications for the presented mast will be identified.
