Abstract

DLR Lampoldshausen carried out cold flow subscale tests to study the wall temperature increase within the separation zone of a truncated ideal contour nozzle. The wall temperature was studied using infrared thermography and the tests were completed using an inner wall layer of pressure sensitive paint. The temperature increase within the separation zone showed the awaited inflection point profile. Compared to the undisturbed flow the wall temperature rises for ~7.2%. With the obtained data a separation length model can be developed.
