Abstract

A one way Doppler measurement theory obtained from observation of the space probe Giotto during comet fly-bys was extended to the observation of Earth satellites. In comparison to the original theory as applied for interplanetary missions, the theory was extended in order to include misleading observational directions. To check this theory, one way Doppler measurements of the satellites CHAMP, TerraSar-X and CBERS-2 using ground tracking antennas in Weilheim (Germany) and Alcantara (Brazil) were performed. These observations will be compared with the new modified theory. Minor discrepancies probably based on noisy observations will be observed. Further observational checks are necessary to base the theory
