Kurzfassung
Free-space optical terminals on aeronautical platforms for A/C-Ground or A/C-Sat links are likely to suffer from pointing errors induced by e.g. carrier vibrations. These drawbacks can be overcome with an agile Fine Pointing Assembly (FPA). Such an FPA, based on a Fast Steering Mirror, has been implemented for an aeronautical free-space optical terminal. Background light is rejected by using a modulated beacon signal and digital �ltering in the tracking processor. The system concept as well as simulation results are presented in this paper.
