Abstract
Topic of the present report is the design of a generic model of a highly integrated intake. The model is planned for an experimental study of the combined effects of boundary layer ingestion and an S-duct diffuser on flow conditions at the engine face. In order to form a well-defined boundary layer ahead of the intake the model is arranged on a flat plate. In the introduction the importance of boundary layer ingesting highly integrated intakes is briefly discussed. This is followed by basic theoretical considerations and a detailed description of the analytical design. Preliminary computational results of the flow field within the intake performed with DLR’s Tau code are presented next. Finally, the experimental procedure to be used in the experiments that shall be performed in the cryogenic blow down tunnel Göttingen (KRG) of the German-Dutch Wind Tunnels DNW is outlined. The report is closed by an outlook.
