Abstract

SHEFEXII is a faceted re-entry body with a sharp leading edge. Among the experiments onboard, an active transpiration module is foreseen on one of the body’s facets. The present paper introduces the SHEFEXII flight trajectory and the corresponding loads to the stagnation point and the transpiration facet, predicted with an analytical approach. Moreover, the set-up of AKTiV and the flight experiment strategy is described. This elaboration shall serve to estimate the loads and flow field at the transpiration-cooled shingle.
