Abstract
The purpose of the document EXP-NAP-ATA Aero-Thermal Analyses is to compile the information relevant to the issues of interaction between the CMC nose structure and the flow around the vehicle. These issues are the oxidation behaviour of the C/C-SiC material, particularly the passive/active transition, the effect of surface erosion of the C/C-SiC material at very high temperatures and the effect of the transition from laminar to turbulent flow due to surface roughness or local disturbances.
