Kurzfassung
The Cassini spacecraft started to investigate the Saturnian icy satellites in June 2004 with the flyby of Phoebe. This flyby was followed by close flybys of many medium-sized icy satellites. We developed a tool to plan the surface observations of the icy satellites. This tool can be used to design high-resolution imaging mosaics during close flybys. It can also be used to calculate both the achieved and the planned sur-face coverage. Furthermore, it is possible to use CKVIEW to select the necessary images for the calculation of global image mosaics of the icy satellites. Similar func-tionality exists also for the other optical remote sensing instruments like the spec-trometers VIMS and UVIS. We will also show how CKVIEW can be used for the planning of imaging se-quences and the analysis of the data in other planetary missions (e.g. Mars-Express, Rosetta, DAWN).
